About Economics Academy
What is Economics Academy?
Economics Academy is a specialist A-Level Economics site run by Eliot King. It offers free revision notes and past papers for Edexcel, AQA, and OCR students — alongside paid 1-on-1 online tutoring and a paper marking service with expert KAEA feedback.
Who is the tutor?
Eliot King holds a First-Class BSc in Economics from the University of Bath and has 6 years of tutoring experience with over 100 students taught. He is rated 5/5 on Tutorful and specialises in exam technique, essay structure, and content knowledge across Edexcel, AQA, and OCR.
Which exam boards do you cover?
Edexcel A, Edexcel B, AQA, and OCR. Please specify your board when booking so sessions and feedback can be tailored to your exact specification.
Do you cover AS as well as A2?
Yes — both AS and A2 are covered, though the primary focus is A2. If you're studying AS, just let Eliot know when booking so sessions can be matched to the right specification and past papers.
Free Revision Notes & Past Papers
What free resources are available?
The site offers free revision notes and free past papers:
- Revision notes: Edexcel A (Themes 1–4), AQA AS and A2 microeconomics and macroeconomics, and a macro application section. Notes for Edexcel B and OCR are in progress.
- Past papers: Edexcel A, Edexcel B, AQA, and OCR — all free.
Are the revision notes for AS or A2?
Both are included, though the majority of the content focuses on A2 material. AS content is covered where relevant to the specification.
How are the revision notes organised?
Notes are organised by exam board and topic area. Visit the Revision Notes page and select your board to browse by theme or topic.
Where can I find past papers?
Past papers are on the Past Papers page, organised by exam board — Edexcel A, Edexcel B, AQA, and OCR.
Tutoring
What are the tutoring prices?
- Free intro call — 15 minutes via Calendly, available once per student
- One-to-one lessons — £65 per 60-minute lesson, with no minimum number of lessons
- Group lessons (2–4 students) — £35 per hour per student; pay for just your first group lesson, then book per half-term or term
For any requirements outside these options, please enquire for a custom quote.
How do I get started with tutoring?
Start with the free 15-minute intro call, booked via Calendly on the Tutoring page. On the call you'll discuss your goals, exam board, and what support you're looking for. If it's a good fit, Eliot will follow up by email to arrange your first paid lesson.
What is the Calendly booking for?
The Calendly booking on the tutoring page is for the free 15-minute intro call only — it is not used to book paid lessons. The call is your chance to ask questions and decide whether tutoring is right for you. There's no commitment required.
Paid lessons are arranged separately by email after the intro call.
Where do paid lessons take place?
All paid lessons take place on thelessonspace.com. You don't need to create an account in advance — Eliot will send you a link before your first session, and the same link is used for every lesson.
What happens in a typical session?
Sessions are built around what you need most. Depending on where you are, a session might focus on:
- Clarifying tricky content or theory
- Building essay structure and evaluation technique
- Working through past paper questions with detailed feedback
- Exam strategy and revision planning
Every session is tailored to your exam board and current stage of preparation.
How do I book a paid lesson?
Paid lessons are arranged by email. Contact Eliot at eliotkingtuition@gmail.com with your preferred times and any details about the support you need. He'll confirm the schedule and send the lesson link.
Can I reschedule or cancel a lesson?
Rescheduling is possible if Eliot has availability — he will do his best to accommodate requests. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged in full. If rescheduling isn't possible, no refund is issued for the cancelled session.
Do you offer group tuition?
Yes — group lessons run with 2–4 students on the same exam board and level, at £35 per hour per student. Join with friends as a ready-made group, or sign up individually and be matched into a suitable group. You pay for just your first group lesson to try it; after that, places are billed per half-term or term so the group stays stable. See the Tutoring page for details.
What if I need something outside the standard packages?
If you're looking for a different format, frequency, or focus, get in touch via the Contact page or book a free intro call and Eliot will let you know whether he can help.
How do I pay for tutoring?
Tutoring is paid by bank transfer. Bank details are shared once your lessons are confirmed by email. Group places after the first lesson are billed per half-term or term, based on the number of lessons.
Marking Service
What marking packages are available?
- Single 25-mark question — £25 (£30 next-day)
- Bundle of three 25-mark questions — £60 (£75 next-day), saving £15 vs the single rate
- Single full exam paper — £60 (£70 next-day), A-Level or AS-Level
- Bundle of three full exam papers — £150 (£180 next-day), saving £30 vs the single rate
Every package is available with a standard 48-hour turnaround or a next-day turnaround, and every exam board is covered — Edexcel A, Edexcel B, AQA and OCR. Bundle papers don't have to be sent together — spread them out however you like, and each is returned within your turnaround of when you send it. Choose a package on the Marking page and pay securely via Stripe. Need something the packages don't cover? Email your enquiry for a personal quote.
Who marks my work?
All marking is done by Eliot King — the same tutor who runs every session on the site. First-Class BSc Economics from the University of Bath, 6 years of tutoring experience, 100+ students taught.
What feedback will I receive?
Every submission comes back with three things:
- A mark and a grade — a mark for every answer, and a grade so you know where the work stands
- An annotated PDF of your paper — comments marking where you made good Knowledge, Application, Analysis and Evaluation points, your mistakes, and where each of those skills can be improved
- A detailed follow-up email — longer comments on exam technique and structure, plus written alternative versions of points you made, showing exactly what you'd need to write to score higher
How do I submit my work?
After payment you'll land on a confirmation page with one simple step: email your work to eliotkingtuition@gmail.com. Accepted formats:
- PDF or image scans
- Word documents
- Clear photos of handwritten work
How quickly will I receive my feedback?
Standard turnaround is 48 hours from when payment is received or work is received — whichever is later. For most students this means feedback arrives within a day or two of submitting. Bundles work the same way per paper: send the three together or spread them out, and each is returned within 48 hours of when you send it.
Need it sooner? See the next-day option below.
Is there a faster turnaround option?
Yes. Every package can be bought with a guaranteed next-day turnaround instead of the standard 48 hours — your feedback comes back by the end of the next day, counted from when your payment and your work have both arrived. On bundles, each paper is counted from when you send that paper.
Next-day prices: single 25-mark question £30, bundle of three 25-mark questions £75, single full exam paper £70, bundle of three full exam papers £180. Just pick the next-day button for your package on the Marking page.
Can you mark other question types besides essays?
The standard packages focus on 25-mark essays and full exam papers. If you need marking for data response questions, shorter-answer questions, or anything outside the standard packages, get in touch via the Contact page with your requirements and Eliot will provide a quote.
Regular marking is available too — ongoing feedback on essays and practice papers for students who want a marker in their corner throughout the year. Also arranged by quote: just mention it in your enquiry.
Payments, Policies & Practical Info
What is the refund policy for marking?
No refunds are issued once payment has been made. If you have any issues with your submission or the feedback you receive, contact Eliot directly and he will work to resolve it.
What payment methods do you accept?
- Marking — paid via Stripe (all major credit and debit cards accepted)
- Tutoring — paid by bank transfer, with details provided once your lessons are confirmed by email
Do you work with international students?
Yes — lessons are fully online, so students anywhere in the world can book. There are no restrictions on international bookings. Time zone preferences can be discussed when arranging lessons by email.
How is my data handled?
Your work and personal details are used only to provide marking or tutoring services and are never shared with third parties. Payments are processed securely via Stripe. You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing eliotkingtuition@gmail.com. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
